// Planning Your Vacation.27. June 2016
Planning trips are probably our favorite types of plans. No surprise there! Now that you’ve chosen where you’re going to be spending a few wonderful days this summer it’s time to start planning what you’re going to bring and what you’re going to go and see while you’re there. So grab your planners and get organizing on paper with these small tips:
// MAKE A LIST OF ATTRACTIONS.
Once you’ve decided where you will be spending your days, and your accommodations are all lined up, it’s time to decide on what you’re going to see. We love looking into local tourism websites but what we find the most interesting are local travel blogs because that’s where you’re going to find the most authentic content. You might even get lucky and find a round-up post on a specific location and then all you have to do is follow the plan. Alternatively we would also recommend looking into bloggers that are from the city you are about to visit so you can look at what spots they frequent; such as where they go to get coffee in the morning and where they grab drinks with their friends at night.
// BE ADVENTUROUS.
Planning out your entire trip is fun - trust us, we love to plan more than the next person - but there is also real pleasure in allowing yourself to get a little lost while you're away. Sometimes when you deviate from your original plans you end up finding the most charming, hidden places simply by wandering down little alley ways you find along the way. They might just take you to the most scenic destination of your entire trip.
// GET PACKING.
The final - and we would even claim, most important and exciting - step is to pack! There are a few key elements to think about when you’re packing: climate, occasions and activities. When we pack for a vacation we create a quick list of clothing items we’d like to bring and then we match up a few key items in a few different ways. Bring half the amount of tops for the number of days you are staying, a third of the number of bottoms and jackets and find a way to wear each top twice with a different bottom or a different jacket. You are on vacation so no one will know you wore a top twice. This is a really key strategy. If you already know exactly how you’re going to wear each item you end up bringing less; this is true and tried. A few days before you leave make sure you use your packing list, also provided to you in your 2016 Design Love Planner, to check off all the important things you’ll need to embark on your adventure. In addition, grab our new Metropolis Clutch as a great carry-on companion and travel wallet while you're away.
And that’s it. Now you are ready to take on your vacation! What are your favorite tips for getting ready for a trip?
